Faceapp removes controversial ethnicity filters

FACEAPP gained popularity earlier this year from turning frowns into smiles and young faces into older versions.

CNN reports a new feature – an “ethnicity filter” – quickly angered users.

Selfies could be changed to “Black,” “Indian” and “Asian.”

Some called the update “disturbing” and “incredibly racist.”

Users said the filter has since been removed, CNN reports.
