El Paso Electric: Lightning strikes pole, leaves east side customers without power

El Paso Electric crews are working to restore power after lightning struck a pole in east El Paso late Monday night, said the utility company.

This happened around 9 p.m. in the area near McRae and Trawood.

Downed wires were reported. About 2,600 customers were affected.

El Paso Electric said crews are trying to restore power as safely and quickly as possible.

As of 10 p.m. Monday, there was a flood advisory for urban and arroyo flooding in low lying areas. The warning expires Tuesday at 12:30 a.m.
