Gunmen attack Juarez family, kill 20-month-old baby, Juarez paper reports

The Diario de Juarez newspaper is reporting gunmen attacked a Juarez family a little after midday Monday, killing a 31-year-old father and his 20-month-old daughter.

Investigators say the family of four was heading home in south central Juarez when several gunmen in another vehicle began shooting at them, the newspaper reported.

Officers described how 31-year-old Sergio Efrain Barraza Esparza, the father, was driving with his 21-year-old wife and two children in the vehicle, a 10-year-old and the baby, according to El Diario.

The paper reported the father was able to pull over before dying, then the mother, with four bullet wounds herself, was able to get behind the wheel and drive to a nearby clinic to get medical attention.
