EPPD: Woman lied about stolen car, wrecked vehicle found in dirt pile
Police say the Las Cruces woman who reported her vehicle stolen in West El Paso had previously called to ask for help after her vehicle was “covered in dirt.”
Khadijah Sena, 21, of Las Cruces, is charged with False Report to a Peace Officer and Perjury.
Police said Sena called at 7:36 am Sunday, August 13, 2017. She allegedly told officers her car, a 2013 Dodge Dart, had been stolen in the 600 block of Cincinnati.
An investigation revealed Sena contacted police for assistance at 2:38 am earlier that mornning “as she was in new freeway construction area, in a vehicle, and covered with dirt,” police said.
Auto Theft investigators learned the vehicle reported stolen had been involved in a collision. Police said the vehicle was located in a construction zone area at 700 Executive Center in a dirt pile.
Investigators determined the vehicle was not stolen and secured arrest warrants for Sena.
Sena was booked into the El Paso County Jail on bonds totaling $4,000.
