Jury convicts man in connection to 2014 shooting death of El Paso teenager

A jury has convicted a second man in connection to the October 2014 shooting death of Aaron Ochoa.

Miguel Bygovtia, identified by police as one of the shooters, was found guilty of murder Friday. The El Paso Times reports Bygoytia faces 99 years to life in prison. The sentencing phase is scheduled to begin Tuesday, the paper reports.

Gustavo Valencia, also identified by police as an alleged shooter, was convicted of Capital Murder in 2016 and sentenced to 60 years in prison.

Armando Torres, identified by police as the alleged getaway driver, is awaiting trial.

The shooting occurred at about 5:12 p.m. Oct. 30, 2014 at the intersection of Rio Grande Ave. And Stanton St.

At the time of the killing, Ochoa was attending The Paso del Norte Academy. Investigators said he had just gotten out of class when he was gunned down in a parking lot near Stanton Street and Rio Grande.

Court documents state Bygoytia and Ochoa got into a argument earlier in the day. Bygoytia allegedly helped Valencia shoot the victim and Torres was the alleged getaway driver.

The El Paso Times reports Ochoa was shot 10 times.
