EPPD identify vehicle involved in deadly hit-and-run

The search for a hit-and-run driver who killed 29-year-old Raymone Calhoun continues, but El Paso police have now identified the vehicle that may have been involved in the fatal accident.

The vehicle has been identified as a green 1999 Toyota Avalon with Texas license plates of DKV4558.

The accident happened on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 2800 Savannah & Elm.

An investigation revealed Calhoun was riding a Kawasaki 900 motorcycle north on the 2400 block of Elm Street.

At the same time, police said, the driver of an “older model, bluish-green sedan” was traveling west on the 2800 block of Savannah.

Police said the driver of the sedan, believed to be a man in between the ages of 18 and 20, failed to stop at the stop sign and pulled in front of the Kawasaki.

The ensuing collision caused Calhoun to be ejected from the motorcycle, police said. The driver of the sedan allegedly fled the scene without offering help, police said.

Calhoun sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said Calhoun was not wearing a helmet.

The vehicle should have damage to the driver’s side of the vehicle. If you see this vehicle or have information about the vehicle or driver, call the El Paso Police Department at 915.832.4400.

To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 915.566.8477.
