Former UTEP RB Aaron Jones named NFL Rookie of the Week

Former UTEP running back Aaron Jones has been named the NFL’s Rookie of the Week.

Jones had a breakout performance against the Dallas Cowboys Sunday. The Green Bay Packers defeated Dallas 35-31.

In his first NFL start, Jones had 19 carries and 125 rushing yards against the Cowboys.

The fifth-round draft pick also scored his second professional touchdown on a 7-yard run late in the second quarter. Prior to the touchdown, Jones made a diving 9-yard catch along the sideline for a first down.

According to the Green Bay Packer’s website, Jones became the first Packers rookie running back to rush for at least 100 yards in a game since Eddie Lacy in 2013.
