Del Valle football cracks top ten in Region 1-5A poll

Del Valle football is ranked in the top ten in the latest Region 1-5A THSCA Coaches Poll released Monday.

The Conquistadores are actually tied for 10th with Denison, but that’s good enough to make them the only local team currently in the top ten in the poll in any classification.

Pebble Hills received some votes in the Region 1-6A poll, while Eastlake and Chapin received votes in 5A.

Despite the fact they are still unbeaten, Montwood did not receive any votes in the 6A poll.

Del Valle recently defeated Eastlake 25-21 on a late touchdown toss from Raymond Montez to Danny Cortez. That victory was enough to boost them into the top ten.

The Conquistadores meet Bel Air on the road Friday. They have a chance to win their seventh consecutive game and improve their district record to a perfect 7-0.

Del Valle will then conclude its regular season with a home game on Nov. 3 against Hanks.
