Police identify pedestrian killed on Alameda in Lower Valley

Police said the pedestrian struck and killed Tuesday night on Alameda failed to use a crosswalk.

Billy Ray Gardea, 24, was fatally injured as he crossed the 9800 block of Alameda shortly before 10pm.

Police said Gardea was struck by a 2016 Dodge Durango driven by 28-year-old Abigail Flores.

Officials said the investigation continues, but did not clarify whether the driver will face charges.

This is the 43rd traffic fatality of the year in the City of El Paso.
