Police identify pedestrian struck on Alameda, man in critical condition

El Paso Police have identified a man who was seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle on the 3600 block of Alameda Saturday night.

According to police, 53-year old, Benito Beltran, was crossing Alameda when he was struck by 39-year old, Jaime Acosta, who was traveling westbound on Alameda. Police say that Beltran was under the influence of alcohol while he was crossing a uncontrolled intersection. He was transported to University Medical Center and remains in critical condition.

Police have not provided any further details as the investigation continues.
