6 Bodies hung from bridges in Cabo San Lucas
Baja California state police are trying to figure out who killed and who hung the bodies of six men off three different bridges in Cabo San Lucas Wednesday.
State investigators said they found two bodies on a bridge in Las Veredas, near Los Cabos International Airport, and two more on a bridge located on a highway between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo.
Prosecutors said two more bodies were found later on Wednesday at another bridge near the airport.
Authorities would not give out details on what happened to the victims, only saying drug gangs often hang the bodies of their victims where the public can see them to intimidate rival gangs.
The Mexican state of Baja California has been hit by violent crime, especially near Los Cabos, a popular tourist destination.
The Los Cabos police chief Juan Manuel Mayorga was shot dead last week.
Homicides have more than doubled in Baja California this year with more than four hundred people killed through October.
More than 4.4 million passengers, mostly international, have passed through Los Cabos Airport so far this year, according to operator Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico.
