Man convicted of stalking ex-girlfriend sentenced to 18 months in prison

A Las Cruces man was sentenced to 18 months in prison after being convicted last October for aggravated stalking of his ex-girlfriend.

Felix Montoya, 28, was convicted on one count of aggravated stalking, a fourth-degree felony.

According to an investigation conducted by Las Cruces Police, Montoya showed up uninvited at his ex-girlfriend’s home on Oct. 3, 2016, violating two separate court orders in domestic violence cases.

It is Montoya’s fourth conviction since February of 2016, including two prior convictions for battery against a household member and one conviction for criminal damage to property under $1,000.

Police say the previous incidents involved the same victim.

Upon release, Montoya must also successfully complete one year of parole.
