Voters to head to polls Tuesday in Doa Ana County

Voters in Doña Ana County have a chance on Tuesday to approve or deny two bond proposals in two school districts.

The Las Cruces Public School District is looking to pass a $50 million bond. The money would partly be used to expand, remodel, and furnish schools and buy computer equipment. LCPS will apply for matching funds from the state for certain projects. And ads paid for by supporters in the Las Cruces Sun-News state that the tax rate is not supposed to be impacted.

The Gadsden Independent School District is asking for $38 million for similar projects in its own district. GISD will also apply for matching funds from the state, according to the Sun-News, and that taxes are supposed to stay flat, according to district officials.

Polls are open Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
