EPPD: Drunk driver in possession of cocaine
A police officer with the department’s DWI Task Force arrested an El Paso man accused of driving drunk and being in possession of cocaine.
Juan Carlos Sanchez, 35, is charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Possession of a Controlled Substance (Cocaine).
Police said the officer spotted Sanchez driving a Chrysler 300 in the 1300 block of North Zaragoza shortly after 2 am February 7, 2018. Sanchez was allegedly speeding at 61 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone.
While Sanchez was being searched, police allegedly found four plastic baggies with cocaine in one of the pockets of Sanchez’s pants. Each baggie contained cocaine “with a total weight of 2.9 grams,” police said.
Police booked Sanchez into the county jail on bonds totaling $10,000.
