“It’s hard to be good on offense if you do not have a good quarterback,” Dimel said, “Kai Locksley is very athletic. He can run very well and he can pass as well. He’s already on campus working right now.”
Dimel said the team wants to address needs at the offensive line, in addition to adding new defensive backs and wide receivers. “We also made sure we got some guys who can rush the passer,” Dimel said.
UTEP recruited ten new defensive players, 14 new offensive players and three specialists.
“We hit Texas hard and we signed 14 players out of the state of Texas,” Dimel said, “We also added several players from Southern California. The proximity is very important to these players and their families.”
Dimel said the university’s football team now has a full time recruiting director, a new player personnel director and two new quality control coaches.
