Rookie LCPD officer charged with aggravated DWI resigns

The rookie Las Cruces Police Officer charged with aggravated DWI has resigned Friday, Las Cruces Police officials said.

Deputies with the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Department arrested 28-year-old Ryan Holguin. No arrest photo has been available and a search of Holguin’s name in the county’s jail inmate website yields no results.

Holguin was driving a Mitsubishi Outlander SUV when he was allegedly spotted swerving on Highway 28 shortly before 3 am January 9, 2018. The deputies who pulled Holguin over near Highway 28 and Vinton Road reported Holguin had slurred speech and blood shot eyes. Holguin allegedly refused both sobriety tests, officials said.

When the deputies ran Holguin’s driver’s license information, they learned it had been suspended.

Holguin, who had been with the police department since March of 2017, was placed on administrative leave prior to his resignation.
