Health Department: Eleven Flu-related deaths reported in El Paso this season

Officials with the Department of Public Health report the number of flu-related deaths in El Paso now stands at eleven this season.

The three latest deaths involve two men: a man in his 80s and another in his 50s. The eleventh death involved a female in her 70s.

All three had underlying medical conditions, officials said.

“We need to continue to protect ourselves, especially the elderly and those with weaker immune system,” Public Health Director Robert Resendes said in a news release.

There have been 4,916 confirmed flu cases reported in El Paso, approximately ten times the number of cases seen at this time last year.
