People expected to spend a pretty penny on Valentine’s Day
Whether you plan on spending Valentine’s day with your special someone, fantastic friends or a precious pet the National Retail Federation estimates Americans will spend a pretty penny celebrating love.
The NRF reported that shoppers are expected to spend around $2 billion on flowers.
During holiday seasons, you can expect to see prices for a bouquet of flowers well above their normal price point, but before you head into your florist, or buy online, make sure you’re going to drop a dime on a quality arrangement.
Log onto the Better Business Bureau’s website to search local florists, and read their reviews. You can also use Yelp reviews , and word of mouth for a second opinion.
When you finally pick the beautiful bouquet, pay with a credit card. Most of the the time they have a built-in insurance policy in case you have any unexpected problems with the final product.
If your sweetheart is feathery, four-legged or furry — we’re talking about pets here — that’s cool too. The American Pet Products Association did a study that found Millennials account for more than one-third of pet owners, and of those more than one-quarter plan to pick up a token of their appreciation for their pet.
Single, pets aren’t your thing? You’re not alone.
Eighteen to 24-year-olds who don’t plan on celebrating still have plans to pamper themselves or head out with friends.
