CBP: Woman caught trying to smuggle meth into US

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seized 1.1 pounds of meth allegedly being carried by a woman in a package strapped to her body.

CBP officials noticed unusual behavior from the woman who was crossing the Ysleta Port of Entryon foot at approximately 5:30 pm Thursday.

During an inspection, CBP officials identified an unusual bulge in her stomach area, which turned out to be a meth filled package.

The 24-year-old Mexican woman was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to face charges associated with the failed drug smuggling attempt.

That same day at the Ysleta Port of Entry, CBP seized 29.5 pounds of meth, 1.6 pounds of heroin and three pounds of an unknown substance in pill form.

The drugs were discovered in 28 filled bundles hidden in the seats of a 2000 Chrysler Voyager which entered the port at approximately 9:30 am.

A 19-year-old U.S. man was turned over to (ICE) to face charges associated with the failed drug smuggling attempt.
