Police say body found in tree was a homeless man, suicide

Police say they believe a man whose badly decomposed remains were found in a tree in Texarkana may have committed suicide.

The Texarkana Gazette reports that railroad workers spotted what they thought was a Halloween decoration about 10:30 a.m. Friday while working. They quickly called police when they realized the remains were human.

Authorities are not releasing the name of the homeless man from Dierks, Arkansas, because they believe he committed suicide. They say his body, which was badly decomposed, was sent to a medical examiner for confirmation.

Police say the man’s family has been notified.
