Women’s Basketball: NMSU cruises past Chicago State in WAC quarterfinals

The NMSU women’s basketball team was supposed to make it look easy against Chicago State, and they did just that Wednesday night in the WAC Tournament quarterfinals.

The Aggies beat the Cougars by a final of 84-60 to book their spot in the WAC semis. Top-seeded NMSU will meet Seattle, the fourth seed, at 3:30 p.m. Friday on ESPN3.

NMSU, which won the WAC regular season title, defeated Cougars for the third time this season. Chicago State ends its season with a 1-29 overall record.

Gia Pack led the Aggies with 29 points while WAC Player of the Year Brooke Salas added 27 points and seven rebounds.

The Aggies scored the first 17 points of the game and never looked back en route to their 18th win of the year (18-11).

NMSU forced the Cougars into 18 turnovers while only committing seven of their own.

The Aggies have now won six consecutive games, all by eight points or more.
