Ascarate Fishing Club dedicates tournament to Estela Casas

The Ascarate Fishing Club held a special event for ABC-7’s Estela Casas, as she undergoes breast cancer treatment. Saturday, the club dedicated its tournament to her at Ascarate Park. Members wore pink shirts, jackets and hats. Some participants also wore pink and tied pink ribbons on their fishing rods.

Casas, who has been battling breast cancer since September, recently had a double mastectomy. She’s now another step closer to becoming cancer free.

Casas has thanked everyone, including viewers, for all their support, and said she’s using her faith to stay positive.

“We’re honoring her dedication and educating the public on breast cancer,” Club President Juan Salas said at Saturday’s event.

The club allows kids ages 3 to 16 to fish for free. For more information about the club click here.
