Fresno Bee: Fresno State’s Rodney Terry named UTEP head basketball coach
Rodney Terry is stepping down as head basketball coach at Fresno State to take over the head basketball coach at the University of Texas at El Paso, the Fresno Bee reports.
UTEP officials have not confirmed the information, but sources tell ABC-7 Terry is indeed leaving Fresno State and that UTEP will be his next destination.
Terry just finished his 7th season as head coach for the Fresno State Bulldogs. His overall record with the team is 126 wins and 108 losses. In 2016, his team won the Mountain West Tournament Championship. It was the only time in his 7 seasons at Fresno State that he took the Bulldogs to NCAA Tournament.
The Fresno Bee reports Terry led Fresno State to three 20-win seasons in a row and four in five years. Media in Fresno have reported Terry is ready to move on because he believes he’s taken the Fresno program as far as it can go.
