Mayfield parents voice concerns over the whereabouts of band director

Las Cruces parents voiced their concerns over the whereabouts of their high school band director before their school board Tuesday night.

Director of the Mayfield Higschool band was removed several weeks ago.

Parent said his depature was never annouced to them and the students until last week. They said they believe the district used complaints by a few parents to remove Lang, who led the Trojan band for 18 months.

High school band parent Carol Placchi said, “there’s just a minimum of people that have gotten somebody’s ear and there has been some unjust done.”

Cadi Davis, another parent, said, “My child came home all the time saying ‘I dont know whats going on, I dont know what going on.’ So, I really feel Mr. Lang and his family were done a great injustice.”

ABC-7 asked the district about the status of Lang’s employement. The school board said it had no comment and it could not comment on the issue citing it’s a personnel matter.
