UPDATE: Police identify man killed in crash at I-10 and Hawkins

El Paso police have identified the pedestrian who died following a crash on I-10 east and Hawkins Tuesday night. He is identified as 44-year-old Jimmy Garcia.

Investigations reveal that a 2013 Freightliner was traveling eastbound on I- 10 East near Hawkins at the same time Garcia attempted to cross I-10 from south to north.

According to police, Garcia then stepped in the path of the tractor/trailer and was struck. He died at the scene.

Police identified the driver of the semi-truck as 52-year old Kelvin Bridges of Alexander City, AL.

STI has identified pedestrian crossing on a prohibited roadway as the contributing factor in this collision.
