CBP discovers cocaine shipment at El Paso port of entry

A United States citizen is behind bars after Customs and Border Protection agents found more than 15 pounds of cocaine hidden in the car she was driving.

CBP agents were conducting an enforcement sweep of vehicles crossing into the US from Mexico Sunday morning at the Paso Del Norte bridge when “Ukey,” a CBP drug -niffing dog, alerted officers to the woman’s car.

Agents initiated a search of the vehicle and found a hidden compartment with six packages of cocaine in it.

Agents took the 54-year-old female driver into custody and turned her over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, who will charge her with the failed smuggling attempt.
