El Pasoans celebrate Palm Sunday

Parishioners across the borderland are celebrating Palm Sunday. At St. Pius X Catholic Church, some church members were brought to tears after mass.

“You can feel it, you can feel it,” Alicia Lara said. “Live or try to live as Jesus Christ. He set the example for us, and try to live in his image.”

Palm Sunday is the Sunday before Easter. It commemorates the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem when palm branches were placed in his path. During Sunday’s mass, parishioners held palm branches, sang, and prayed.

“They walked in together behind Jesus so we try to do the same thing,” Ruben Hernandez said. “”It’s the first week of Holy Week. So starting Monday, they have celebrations every day.”
