New Mexico State University earns $265,000 for bowl appearance
New Mexico State University earned an estimated $265,000 for appearing in the Arizona Bowl.
That earning is thanks to a near-sellout of its 5,000 allotted tickets in the first two weeks after they went on sale.
NMSU won its first bowl game in 57 years, beating Utah State 26-20 in December of 2017.
The university’s athletics director, Mario Moccia, told the Las Cruces Sun-News that
he never imagined that NMSU would earn more than $250,000 for a bowl appearance.
