Salt Lake rallies late to beat Chihuahuas 9-5 Thursday night
The Salt Lake Bees scored four runs in the 8th and three more in the 9th to defeat the Chihuahuas Thursday night at Southwest University Park.
The Chihuahuas led 5-2 entering the top of the 8th before Salt Lake rallied.
Former Chihuahua Jabari Blash hit a two-run go-ahead homer in the 8th with his team trailing 5-4 to give his side the lead for good.
The Bees then added some insurance in the 9th inning to secure a 9-5 victory.
The Chihuahuas fell to 5-3 overall with the loss while the Bees improved to 4-4.
Chihuahuas catcher Raffy Lopez hit a two-run inside-the-park home run in the bottom of the third inning to tie the game at two. Shane Peterson added an RBI single later in the inning to give El Paso a 3-2 lead.
Nick Schulz tacked on a two-run homer in the 5th that gave his team a 5-2 lead, but the Dogs would not score again.
Salt Lake took two of the three games in the series.
The Chihuahuas begin a new series Friday at home at 7:05 p.m. against Las Vegas. The Dogs faced Las Vegas earlier in the season, taking four of the five games they played in Sin City.
