Brett Nicholas named PCL Player of the Week

Chihuahuas catcher/first baseman Brett Nicholas has been named the Pacific Coast League Player of the Week for the week of April 16-22.

Nicholas recorded 14 RBI last week to lead all of baseball (minor leagues and MLB) in that category for the week.

He also tallied four home runs and scored nine runs of his own to help guide the Chihuahuas to six straight wins on the road.

Nicholas is in his first month in the Padres organization after being acquired from the Rangers.

He becomes the first member of the Chihuahuas to take home a weekly award this season.

El Paso will look to end their seven-game road trip with a perfect 7-0 mark Monday night at Las Vegas.

The Chihuahuas (13-5) currently lead their division by one game over Salt Lake.
