BREAKING UPDATE: Teen shot Monday night has died

A teenager is dead after a shooting in Las Cruces Monday night, and officers are still looking for the person who shot him.

Police have identified the victim as Jovon Solomon, 17. He was being treated in El Paso for wounds to his neck and upper chest when he died.

The shooting happened at Athenian Way and Foothills Road near a Hooters restaurant at 7 p.m. Monday.

Investigators told ABC-7 that they think Solomon was a passenger in a white Acura Integra that was involved in a chase with another vehicle that is only described as being dark in color. Police say gunshots were exchanged between occupants in both vehicles.

Detectives have not given ABC-7 a description of the gunman.
