LCPD: Woman crashed into boyfriend’s work truck
Las Cruces police arrested a woman accused of crashing into the side of her boyfriend’s work truck while he was driving.
Police say 19-year-old Rosa Garcia, who was driving a Kia Soul, followed a Chevrolet Silverado which was being driven by her boyfriend and had three other passengers.
Garcia’s boyfriend tried to evade the Kia twice but each time he drove into a small parking lot and each time he tried to exit, the truck was struck on the driver side by Garcia, investigators say.
According to police, Garcia and her boyfriend lived together. Investigators say the boyfriend left their home located at the 600 block of Colorado Avenue on Saturday, April 21 and picked up three friends, two women and a man.
Garcia allegedly began to follow the work truck after her boyfriend returned home to retrieve his cell phone.
Witnesses said the first crash occurred at slow speed and Garcia was traveling about 20 miles per hour during the second crash.
No life-threatening injuries were reported and one passenger complained of neck pain.
Garcia is charged with three felony counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, one count of criminal damage to property and one felony count of aggravated battery against a household member. She is being held without bond at the Doña Ana County Detention Center.
