United Blood Services wants donors for Blood Donor Day

World Blood Donor Day is Thursday, and United Blood Services is asking people to come in and donate blood.

And they’re doing it through a unique campaign.

The campaign — called “Missing Type” — started in the United Kingdom in 2016 with this public service announcement.

The PSA removed the letters A, B and O from words, representing the three main types of blood and urging people to donate.

“When someone has cancer and takes chemo, or, you know, they have an accident or any various reasons, surgeries that people may need blood, it has to have come from a volunteer donor,” said Carla Alexander, with United Blood Services.

To schedule an appointment, visit BloodHero.com. Donation centers are located in East and West El Paso and in Las Cruces.
