WestStar Tower first new highrise in 40 years
Executives and city officials broke ground for the brand new WestStar Tower off of Mesa and Wyoming.
The tower will provide the city with its first new sky scrapper in nearly 40 years. It will be 18 stories, making it the highest building in Downtown El Paso.
As part of the attempt to revitalize El Paso’s downtown area, the tower will include a parking structure, providing 735 new parking spaces for downtown. This was added to the plan to help alleviate downtown’s parking shortage.
It will also provide office and retail spaces for the city, as well as a large lobby and a ground-level “green zone” park area.
Mayor Dee Margo believes is hopeful for what this tower means for the city’s downtown.
“We’re on the cusp of a real economic renaissance downtown,” said Mayor Margo. ” All of the…investment, remodeling, new investments that are coming down are only going to enhance our downtown, enhance our tax base, and help us attract more jobs and more capital investment.”
WestStar tower is scheduled to open in the Summer of 2020.
