SISD marks first day of school with opening of new campus
July 30 marks the first day of school for the Socorro Independent School District.
It’s the first district in the Borderland to welcome back teachers and students for the new school year.
SISD is opening a brand-new campus just in time for the first day.
Sgt. Jose F. Carrasco serves pre-K through fifth-grade students who are living around Pebble Hills High School.
ABC-7 met up with Carrasco’s principal to learn what makes this campus unique.
“The whole purpose of creating this environment — with open-hub learning areas and sliding walls — is to create that collaboration, communication, creativity and critical thinking,” said Jesse Sepulveda. “We’re going to do that (starting with) pre-K.”
Sepulveda told ABC-7 the campus is accepting students from around the world.
