LCPD: Husband conspired to have wife kidnapped, accused woman of infidelity
Police arrested two men and two women suspected in the alleged kidnapping of a one of the suspect’s wife.
Police charged Antonio Felipe Dominguez, 44; Lorena R. Chavez, 37; Jovan J. Shoop, 33; and 28-year-old Kendra “Fiona” Winn with Kidnapping and Conspiracy.
Investigators learned the victim was home at about 4 a.m. on August 2, 2018, when she was awoken by Chavez, who insisted she leave with her in a pickup occupied by Shoop.
As the victim entered the truck, Shoop allegedly pulled out a gun and hit her with it, police said. Chavez allegedly accused the woman of stealing a tattoo machine, tool set and an amplifier and threatened to hit her each time she lied about the theft.
Police said Chavez drove the pickup, occupied by the four suspects and the victim, to the Plaza Suites on University Avenue, where they entered an apartment.
At that location, Dominguez allegedly began accusing his wife of cheating on him. Chavez allegedly had the woman’s cell phone and read provocative text messages out loud for Dominguez to hear, police said.
Dominguez, Chavez, Shoop and Winn held the woman against her will at the apartment, threatened to beat her and threatened to have unknown persons take her to Juarez, police said.
Chavez allegedly said she was going to take two of the victim’s vehicles as payment for the items she allegedly stole. Police said Chavez also demanded an additional $800 from the victim.
The victim convinced Chavez she could get the money so Winn and Shoop drove her to a home off Wesley Drive. At that location, the victim told a relative to call police while Winn and Shoop fled the home.
Winn, Shoop, Dominguez and Chavez were later located and detained by police.
The victim was not seriously injured. Investigators believe Chavez was the primary conspirator in the incident.
All four suspects were booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center where they are initially being held without bond.
