El Paso, Las Cruces organizations collect donated school supplies

It is almost back to school time in the borderland and some organizations are aiming to help children succeed in spite of their economic shortcomings.

In El Paso, KISS FM morning show hosts Mike and Tricia are holding their 22nd annual “Mike and Tricia Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive.” Starting this week and up until Aug. 10 the crew will stop by different Planet Fitness locations collecting donated school supplies and money.

Some of the suggested supplies include: pencils, erasers, pens, crayons, markers, highlighters, folders, glue sticks or bottles, loose-leaf paper and spiral notebooks.

Here is the list of their scheduled visits to Planet Fitness:

Tuesday, August 7: 5026 Montana Ave.

Wednesday, August 8: 5700 N Mesa St.

Thursday, August 9: 3000 Joe Battle Blvd

Friday, August 10: 1317 Pendale Rd

Employees from Memorial and MountainView Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces also held their 12th annual Donation Day on Aug. 4.

They gathered up donated 600 backpacks for underprivileged students in the Las Cruces public school system.

Every backpack contained school supplies such as pencils, pens, paper, rulers, crayons and tissues among other items.
