Isolated storm pummels Doa Ana County northeast of Las Cruces
Two isolated thunderstorms pummeled Doña Ana County northeast of Las Cruces on Wednesday afternoon in a matter of minutes.
“It went from a nice dry thing to a raging river,” said David Ward, who has lived in the area for ten years. “Literally.”
In just fifty minutes, the storms produced two to three inches of rain, according to an ABC-7 weather watcher who reported the number to Doppler Dave Speelman.
“I’m feeling distraught,” said Anna Medina, who has lived in the area for 35 years. Her home was flooded with two inches of water Wednesday afternoon. “It’s never come into my house. Never. This is the first time.”
However, other county residents told ABC-7 the area has been hit hard by multiple storms.
“Mind you, that this has happened for years,” said Richard Levario, who has lived in the area for two decades. “The county promised us that they were going to fix it and it’s just meeting after meeting.”
“In the past two years, we’ve been having fights with the county and apparently, they never do anything about it,” Medina said.
