EPPD: Woman attacked elderly relative, stabbed victim in the face and neck

El Paso Police arrested a woman accused of stabbing an elderly woman while the victim slept.

Rosa Maria Carrillo, 59, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and family violence.

The stabbing happened August 22, 2018 at about 2:21 a.m. on the 6700 block of Tiger Eye.

When police officers arrived at the home, they located the victim, identified only as a 78-year-old woman, inside the home. The victim was bleeding from a stab wound to the neck and jaw, police said.

Paramedics transported the victim to University Medical Center (UMC).

Police said an investigation revealed Carrillo “entered the victim’s bedroom while the victim was asleep and began assaulting and stabbing her about the face and neck.”

Carrillo stopped attacking the victim after a relative entered the room, police said. Police said Carrillo and the victim are related, but did not specify.

Carrillo was booked into the El Paso County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
