RV fire spread, destroyed warehouse at shop near Horizon City

Firefighters are investigating what caused a recreational vehicle to go up in flames, causing a blaze that spread to a warehouse near Horizon City.

The blaze erupted shortly after 11:15 a.m. at MPG Designs near Horizon boulevard and I-10 in Far East El Paso County.

Investigators told ABC-7 the blaze spread from the RV to the nearby warehouse, which housed some forklifts and tractor trailers. They say a propane tank inside the warehouse exploded during the fire.

The warehouse within the MPG Designs property was destroyed.

No one was injured during the fire, officials said. Firefighters from Horizon City, Socorro, San Elizario and Montana Vista responded to the scene.

“Approximately 45 firefighters responded,” said Kristian Menendez, with the Horizon City Fire Department, “We did have some gear that melted. It got too hot and melted but the firefighter was not injured.”
