Deputies: Suspect violated protective order, kidnapped ex-girlfriend
Sheriff’s deputies say an 18-year-old woman was kidnaped by her 23-year-old ex-boyfriend the night of Wednesday, August 22, 2018.
The woman told deputies she was at work on Mesa Street when her ex boyfriend, identified as Jonathan Medina, abducted her by force and threatened her with serious injuries.
Police responded to the kidnapping and found the two in a car on the side of I-10 East. Medina allegedly fled the car into the desert area. Socorro Police and U.S. Border Patrol assisted El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies in searching for Medina. They were unable to locate him that night, but Medina was spotted walking along Eastlake Boulevard around 10:30 AM the next day.
He was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility for Aggravated Kidnapping, Family Violence Assault, two counts of Evading Arrest, and Violation of Protective Order. He is held on bonds totaling $72,750.
