Gordon Family donates $1 million to El Paso Children’s Hospital

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at El Paso Children’s Hospital is now named after Laura and Pat Gordon after the Gordon Family generously donated $1-million dollars to the hospital.

The money is going to Children’s endowment fund, invested and drawn annually for a never ending source of money to help hundreds of families, including the family ABC-7 met at the hospital Wednesday.

“He was born 4.5 pounds,” said Sandra, a woman who gave birth prematurely after she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

Sandra’s son Sebastian stayed in the neonatal intensive care unit and developed complications during his stay. “He developed a stomach problem and he was here for 100 days,” Sandra said.

The mother told ABC-7 she was overwhelmed when she heard the NICU was receiving a $1 million dollar donation. “I am so grateful. This is going to help so much,” she said.

“We wanted to do something that would make a difference, especially, for the children,” said Pat and Laura Gordon.

The Gordons said the donation is their way of thanking the hospital and staff for their hard work. “They dedicate their lives, their love, their commitment, their time, their passion. They really give to this community and they are the heroes in this community,” the couple said.
