UMC to hold ‘Mammothon Saturday’

With October being National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Oct. 19 marking National Mammography Day, University Medical Center of El Paso is offering women a chance to get a mammogram.

The Community Mammothon is being held Saturday, Oct. 20 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the UMC West Clinic on 6600 North Desert Boulevard.

In a news release, UMC said the westside clinic features a 3D mammogram system that can find cysts and tumors 40 percent sooner than other systems.

UMC is asking participants to bring an updated proof of insurance, or to pay a “minimal” $50 fee.

Families will also be able to get flu shots that day.

Women who register for or receive their mammogram will get a free pass to the movies and other goodies, according to UMC.
