Two lawsuits filed against Diocese of El Paso accusing Las Cruces priest of sexual abuse
Two lawsuits have been filed against the Catholic Diocese of El Paso accusing a former Las Cruces priest of sexual abuse.
The two accusers — who have chosen not to be identified — are accusing Fr. Joaquin Resma of sexually abusing them when they were minors.
Resma was a priest at Our Lady of Health in Las Cruces in the late 70’s and early 80’s.
The Diocese of El Paso over saw that parish at the time.
In August, another accuser came forward and filled a lawsuit against Resma.
He told ABC-7 that Resma sexually assaulted and abused him when he was a child.
On Nov. 8, ABC-7 reported that the Las Cruces Diocese would release the names of 28 priests who were “credibly accused” of sexual misconduct with minors.
According to an attorney who represents both accusers, Resma’s name was not listed despite having another case filed against him.
