ABC-7 Xtra: How EPISD’s plan of school closures will impact students, teachers

Earlier this week, the El Paso Independent School District announced its plan to close four of its elementary schools due to a district-wide decrease in enrollment.

The four elementary schools that the district plans to close are Beall, Burleson, Alta Vista and Schuster.

Not only is enrollment declining, but the district has also been battling budget shortfalls over the past several years.

On ABC-7 Xtra, host Saul Saenz will be joined by EPISD school board president Trent Hatch to discuss what the district’s plan is for those students who attend the schools that are up for closure.

Norma De La Rosa, with the El Paso Teachers Association, will also be in attendance to give insight on how school closures impact teachers.
