All you need to know for El Paso’s runoff election Saturday

You have a chance to vote for two City Council positions Saturday.

This runoff election only involves people who live within the city’s Districts 1 and 8.

Here’s a map that shows the districts’ boundaries:

In District 1, incumbent Pter Svarzbein is up against community activist Veronica Frescas.

In District 8, incumbent Cissy Lizarraga is up against political newcomer Nicholas Vasquez.

There is a runoff election because no one received more than 50 percent of the votes during the midterms in November.

Both districts have more than about 98,000 residents.

Only about 4,000 people cast a ballot during early voting.
