El Paso Locomotive FC unveil jerseys for first season
El Paso Locomotive FC made one of its final major announcements as the team gears up for its first game ever on March 9 at Southwest University Park.
The club unveiled two jerseys that will be worn during the 2019 campaign. Neither is designated as an official home or away jersey, so they will be worn interchangeably throughout the season.
One jersey, called “Desert Dusk” features light blue on the top and dark blue on the bottom with the silhouette of the front of a train around the collar.
The second jersey, dubbed “West Texas Sky” is primarily light blue with a diamond pattern emerging near the bottom of the shirt. This particular kit also features railroad tracks running down the side of the jersey near the player’s left arm.
The jerseys also feature “The Star on the Mountain” on the back of the shirts near the bottom.
Today’s unveiling was one of the last major announcements simply because it takes some time to get the look and feel right.
“You know, looking at designs and tweaking different things, this has been six to seven months in the process,” said Andrew Forrest, general manager of business operations for the team. “But again, it’s great to see it finally borne into the public. We couldn’t be happier with both designs.”
The club had two players don the jerseys at a news conference Tuesay afternoon.
Forward Omar Salgado, from El Paso, wore the “Desert Dusk” variation while defender Chiro N’Toko, from Belgium, showcased the “West Texas Sky” uniform.
“Yeah, I was really surprised. I love the color, and everything was really perfect,” said N’Toko. “Like you can see, it fits me really well. So, we like it a lot. I like it.”
The jerseys are manufactured by BLK, a sportswear company founded in Australia that originally specialized in rugby gear.
But with the help of input and guidance from the club, they were able to produce jerseys that encapsulate the Sun City.
“Unbelievable feeling. I think this jersey represents El Paso perfectly,” said Salgado. “For me it’s a dream come true to be able to represent this city in this jersey.”
