EPISD Board President Trent Hatch resigns
The El Paso Independent School District Board President, Trent Hatch, resigned from the EPISD board of trustees.
President Hatch announced his resignation Saturday night citing that he no longer lives in the geographic district that he represents on the board and so he must vacate the position.
According to a news release made by the EPISD, Hatch’s resignation is effective immediately.
Hatch was first elected to the board in 2015.
Bob Geske, who served as the Vice President on the EPISD Board of Trustees, will assume a lead role on the board until new officers are selected in May.
EPISD Superintendent Juan Cabrera made the following statement about Hatch’s resignation.
“Mr. Hatch has been a true leader in helping us reach unprecedented levels of educational attainment. On behalf of the entire district, its students and employees, I wish to thank him for his years of service and dedication.”
According to the release, Hatch’s position on the board will remain vacant until the Board of Trustees election that will be held on May 4th. There are three people that are interested in the position.
The release also credited Hatch with improving the districts academic ratings, implementing new innovative programs, updating teaching and learning, and helping to pass two Penny Swap elections.
