EPPD: Teens in car with expired registration were transporting pot and THC

Police in Central El Paso arrested three teenagers on drug charges after a traffic stop on the 500 block of South Oregon.

Officers pulled over the Toyota Avalon – allegedly driven by 18-year old Sergio Luna – after noticing the expired July 2018 inspection and registration sticker. The traffic stop was made shortly after 10 a.m. on February 19, 2019.

The officers identified 19-year old Victor Valdez and 19-year old Ricardo Mejorado as passengers in the Avalon.

Police said an investigation revealed Luna, Valdez and Mejorado were in possession of 20 bags of marijuana (Kush) weighing 18.22 pounds and 200 individual containers of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) weighing 17.61 pounds.

The three teenagers were charged with Possession of Controlled Substance Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) Over two grams and Possession of Marijuana over five pounds/under 50 pounds.

The teenagers were booked on a $45,000 bond each.
