Teen seen in viral video involving EPPD officer arrested on family violence charge
Julian Saucedo, one of the teenagers at the center of a viral video involving an El Paso Police officer, has been arrested on family violence charges, online jail records show.
On February 21, 2019, police charged Saucedo with Assault Causing Bodily Injury/Family Violence. ABC-7 reached out to El Paso Police for more information regarding the charge, but a spokesperson declined to provide information.
Saucedo was previously arrested for showing up late to court for a probation hearing related to the July 5, 2018 incident with the police officer.
On that date, a police officer responded to a criminal trespass and criminal mischief call shortly after 6 p.m. at an apartment complex at 6719 Sambrano. The officers spotted a group of juveniles near the scene and stopped them for questioning.
After the group became unruly, the officer took Saucedo into custody. At that moment, the group of kids surrounded the officer and hurled insults. In a video that went viral on social media, the police officer is seen pulling out his service weapon and momentarily pointing it at the belligerent group of kids.
Saucedo was charged with “Interfering with Public Duties.” A review board investigated the actions of El Paso Police Officer J. Rios and cleared him of any wrongdoing.
